My Grandpa Detweiler, my mother’s father, passed away very unexpectantly on Saturday evening. I was home for the weekend with Keith. My grandparents were supposed to be visiting from Ohio, but plans changed at the last minute. I had not seen them in awhile, and was really looking forward to this visit. On Saturday my grandpa had a massive heartattack, and despite the best efforts of the doctors, he passed away. I’m sad that I did not get that last visit with him…it had been far too long. It seems unfair, but I suppose that’s part of losing someone you love.

The funeral is Friday in Orrville, Ohio.

I’d appreciate your prayers for my family, and my grandma and especially my parents, “the invalids.” They are both not well, and traveling will be difficult. Pray that the stress would not make my Dad have a flare up of his illness, and that my Mom would not be in too much pain. (Because of her back problems she is not supposed to be traveling.)

Losing someone makes me remember what I believe about life and death and grace.
